Two indoor cats in were euthanized after contracting bird flu from a contaminated raw pet food, leading to a recall of Wild Coast's Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula in Oregon and Washington.

Health officials confirmed the presence of pathogenic avian influenza in both the cats and unopened containers of the affected pet food, prompting the recall.

Safety Recommendations and Human Risk

To prevent bird flu infections, pet owners are advised to avoid feeding raw or undercooked meat, including freeze-dried pet foods, and to keep pets from eating wild birds or animals.
