Cypriot President and Turkish Cypriot leader met under UN Chief of Mission Colin Stewart in , aiming to discuss opening new crossing points in the buffer zone.

The meeting, lasting nearly two hours, ended without an agreement on the specific locations for new crossing points, though both sides acknowledged their importance for building trust and strengthening ties.

Stalemate and Future Discussions

Christodoulides stated that Tatar rejected a proposed crossing point location and was not ready to agree on a package of eight trust-building initiatives, including joint committees and a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
