Panda Diplomacy Renewed
Bao Li and Qing Bao, two giant pandas aged three, arrived at the National Zoo in , marking a continuation of China's panda diplomacy with the U.S. after nearly a year without pandas in America.
The pandas' journey from China included a stop in for refueling before reaching D.C., as part of a new 10-year agreement focusing on global biodiversity and friendship enhancement.
Conservation and Exhibition Plans
The National Zoo plans to raise $25 million for panda exhibit renovations and conservation efforts, aiming to protect giant pandas' mountain forest habitats in China.
Bao Li and Qing Bao will undergo a 30-day quarantine before their public debut, with any offspring sent to China by age four, under the terms of the new agreement.
