Scope of Investigation

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a preliminary investigation into approximately 877,710 vehicles due to complaints of sudden engine failures.

Affected vehicles include the 2019-2024 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Cadillac Escalade, among others, equipped with L87 V8 engines.

Nature of Complaints and Response

Complaints detail incidents of engine seizing or a connecting rod breaching the engine block, with no prior warning signs, increasing the risk of crashes.

General , which saw a 4.3% sales increase in 2024, is cooperating with the investigation, which has yet to report any related crash incidents.
