Arrest and Charges
Twenty-year-old Muhammad Shahzeb Khan was arrested in on Sept. 4, charged with providing material support to , aiming to execute a terror attack in around Oct. 7.
Khan allegedly planned a mass shooting at a Brooklyn Jewish center, using automatic and semi-automatic weapons, with the goal of killing as many Jewish people as possible.
Investigation and Cooperation
and Canadian law enforcement, including the , collaborated to arrest Khan, who had been communicating his support for ISIS and planning the attack via social media and encrypted messaging apps.
Khan distributed ISIS propaganda, planned to create an offline ISIS cell, and had a U.S.-based ISIS supporter involved in the planning. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted.
